Deep Natural Rhythms was set up in early 2002 by 2 talented DJs, Pierre John & Scotty Dawg MacLean. Both of whom come from different walks of life and different musical backgrounds but both with a shared philosophy, "we love to party". With over 15 years collective experience in the music industry and a shared passion for Deep, Natural Rhythms, the duo decided to form DNR promotions.
DNR promotions is a Buckinghamshire based DJ agency, event/club night organisers/promoters. Primarily DNR specialise in underground dance music events, we pride ourselves on professionalism and being on the cutting edge of our industry. Our team is always busy looking for new talent & new opportunities for events, club nights & parties locally.
We showcase several genres of music with the intent to re-vitalise the somewhat lagging scene of natural house music in and around the area. With the explosion of UK garage, RnB, HipHop, Hard House, Pop & the subsequent flooding of those markets, we felt the more discerning dance music fan was being left out. The styles of music we promote are:
> Funky house
> Deep house
> Disco house
> U.S house
> U.S garage
> Soulful house
> Broken beats
> Rare groove
> Funk
> Nu-jazz
> Acid jazz
Every DJ working for us has to play this type of music & their mixing must be seamless & of the very best quality. Whatever the venue or occasion, we can provide DJs who are experienced & who will provide an intelligent passage of music which will delight & inspire the crowd.
With a database of around 300 devoted followers plus access to the vast database of Inspirit Music, we can guarantee a crowd.
Music style:
Soulful house, US house & garage, classic house, vocal house, funky house, deep house, disco house, funk.
Music has always been an integral part of Scottys life. Before the DJ took centre stage, Scotty was a drummer in a funk band, also playing the bass & guitar. He was taken by the early house sound & although he has played several styles of music, hardcore, jungle/drum n bass, breakbeat & hip-hop to name a few, he has always gravitated back to house music.
Before moving to High Wycombe, Scotty lived in Brighton where he started mixing records & playing out. Since then, he has played numerous styles of music in numerous venues, Scotty says he preferred the free party vibe & atmosphere where he played regularly at numerous undisclosed locations. As the face of dance music has changed & has become a large part of the mainstream, Scotty has crossed over into standard venues, bars & clubs where his style of mixing has been well received.
As far as I am concerned, it is the people who are in the venue who make the night, so I play a few things, see what they like & then feed on the vibe they give me & give them the sound they want that night! Is what Scotty says about his style of mixing, although he is famed for his long, tight mixes & use of the filter!
In 2002 Scotty set up Deep Natural Rhythms (DNR) promotions, promoting club nights & organising parties to revitalise the deep, natural house & funk sound which he felt was being neglected in his area somewhat in preference of other musical genres.
